this is the part that matters. marrakshi life is an atelier in marrakech, and they state that they work "exclusively with fabrics hand-woven by our in-house team of artisans." every piece begins as yarn that is dyed, spun, handwoven and shaped by hand, and the garments are made to order. this is not a brand that buys cloth.

100% cotton, quoted from the garment's own label. look closely at the weave and you can see what they mean - the olive is a weft crossing a darker warp, which is the brand's own house method, and it is why the colour shifts and glows rather than sitting flat. a mill-woven cotton does not do this.

cut as a proper trench, softened. an exaggerated notch collar that stands when you turn it up and falls wide and open when you do not. an open wrap front with no buttons - the self-fabric tie belt through belt loops is the whole closure. long sleeves finishing in a buttoned cuff tab, two mother-of-pearl buttons each. welt pockets at the hip. below-knee length, with a seamed waist and a centre pleat at the back that gives it movement.

a narrow tan contrast binding finishes the inside back neck - a small thing, and the kind of thing an atelier does.
