lingua franca — the new york label whose whole premise is that a cashmere sweater should say something, and that a person should sit and stitch it by hand rather than a machine printing it. one hundred percent cashmere, hand-embroidered in nyc.
most of what they make carries a slogan across the chest. this one does not. the front is entirely plain — smoke grey, fine gauge, ribbed crew, ribbed cuff and hem — and the embroidery is a small four-leaf clover, worked in green thread, high on the back. you do not see it. the person behind you does. a lucky charm rather than a statement, and much the better for it.
