the brand call it a placed print, and that is the expensive part - the part most people miss. the florals scatter loose across the body, then gather into a band at the hem and the cuffs: small flowers held between dotted and striped rules, like the edge of a quilt. printed to the pattern piece rather than cut from a running yard.

boxy and slightly cropped. a collar, a hidden button placket at the centre front so the line reads clean, kimono sleeves with cuffs, and a box pleat at the back yoke that gives it swing. it sits at the high hip and holds its own shape.

dark ground, cream and soft taupe linework. a summer print in a winter colour, which is why it works in october over a thin turtleneck and again in may over nothing.

⚠ care: dry clean only, per the garment's own label. the brand allow a cold hand wash. on a dark cotton poplin i would take the label's word for it.
